This is the place where updates, etc will take place. Check here for info about the latest changes.
January 22nd---The 2009 Schedule has been posted. I think it will be a fun year for sure. The same great venues will be there. There will be a few minor changes but the race series will basically be the same. I look forward to warmer weather and for the sprin g to be here. Look for updates.
June 16th---Results are up for all the races this past weekend. I will update the team standings late tomorrow. Thanks to all the racers for coming out. It was a very fast weekend with some awesome times in all 3 events. Photos can be found on the results page.
June 6th---Gearing up for the next set of races coming up on June 14 and 15. The Hill Climb should be very smooth with the new pavement and all. I will take your time from the park to the top of the mountain, that is important as we have a good bit of data and times from this year and last year to compare. With that being said, I would like to have the riders go around an orange cone and head back down the mountain. Its all new pavement now so that will be quite fun. We would just add your time down the mountain and to the top.
Get ready for some fast times at Route 29 and at Carlisle. The courses will be ready for some PR's and amazing times. Have a nice weekend and see you next week.
May 25th--- Good news! They paved the South Mountain Hill Climb road. Its so smooth and rides exceptionally well. It wasn't too bad but now the hill climb got even better. I would like to have a down hill competition as well. This is strictly optional. What i propose is that based on your ascent time from the leader you will start at that interval. So if the winning guy beats you by 20 seconds, you would start back at 20 seconds from him/her. If you are 90 seconds back, you would start back at that interval, etc. If a few of you have the same time, then you would all start together, etc. The finish line would be at the bottom of the mountain. We would add your two times together to come up with a total. We would still rank your time based on the ascent, but going forward, we would do a cumulative time as well.
May 20---What crazy conations for the Carlisle TT and South Mountain HC. Despite the rain, the, some great times were posted and the attendance was decent. Thank You. The Carlisle TT started a bit dry and then the rain moved in. Thankfully, the wind did not play a factor too much in the morning. In the afternoon, it really picked up! I posted the times on the results page and i took a few photos. I hope to take the photos outside next time to get more light, etc. It was a fun day in some ways. Thanks to all who came out and raced.
The Clarks Valley TT scheduled for June 1st has been moved to July 20th. See you in June and you can check out some photos at this site....

May 5th---Results are up for the NJ TT. In addition, the overall and category results are up too. We have some interesting things happen the last 2 Sundays. The weather has been kind of iffy but we have been able to have the race in pretty good conditions. I think our luck is bound to get better as we approach the warmer months. I have been doing TT's for sometime and i can't recall a faster average speed than what Dr. William O'Donnell did last week. Over 30 mph for the Route 29 35 KM TT Course! Wow....that is simply amazing. Here is a photo of the 30 MPH Man!
We have 2 individuals who did the same time on the way out and on the way back. We checked the raw data and that was something i thought i would never see. I can see one leg faster/slower, but to have 2 identical legs is simply amazing as well. We are having a fun time doing the TT. The people have been great, other than the person who took all of my KM orange cone markings, it has been a positive experience. We will be adding 2 more TT's..one on June 15 and one on September 7. I think one a month is a good thing. At the conclusion of the race in September, awards will be given out. Will mail if not present. You only need to do 1 TT to be eligible for the awards. Thanks for racing and have a great week. Best, dan
April 29---Hey...thanks for making the first TT in the state of NJ a nice affair. Things worked out better than i expected and we were able to have the event in basically dry weather. We will be holding another TT on June 15th on Route 29. I will include this on the flyer. Same time, same format, etc.
The Carlisle TT went well, despite the intense fog. It was a cool morning and the fog made it look like a vampire movie at the turnaround. Who said TT's can't be scary. The fog lifted and it was a good day and some very fast times were posted.
The SMHC also went off under ideal conditions. The fastest time was recorded up the mountain. A new course record for many riders. Great job. Have a great week and will slowly add stuff to the web site. Thanks for racing and your business. Best, dan
February 14th---The NJ Route 29 36 KM TT(T) is now posted. I think this will be a great TT. The road is simply amazing. It will require some work to do the longer distances but i think as noted previously, is worth the effort. We are giving away a nice jersey, a free t-shirt for those who can score in the top 29, and some cash, wheels, etc. I like trying new things each year and i think this will be a nice addition to the TT schedule. Let me know if you have any questions, etc at abrdaly@aol.com
May 17th---I will be posting the starting times late Friday night......if you register after Friday...you can get a sense of when you will be starting after you look at the grid. Funny..the hill you come up from SR 174 to the School is not indicative of the course! People were getting nervous and worried that the whole course looks like that. Nothing is that hard out there so don't worry. Trust me. The course is rolling in nature and nothing that steep. The South Mountain Hill climb is about 1/4 mile away from the 40KM turnaround point. Keep going a bit west on the same road you did your TT on and make a left right past the gas station and follow that road around to Southampton Park. Very easy to get to.....See you soon and thanks for racing.
April 15th---The TT'ers did a great job in staying close to the white line and calling out your race number as you came across the line. I really appreciate that. Makes it easier to score the race and get accurate times for you. For next TT, I won't be giving out gift certificates..many of you live so far...seems lame...so it will be either product or something that you don't have to drive to a certain shop. I will also set up the cafeteria with food and drinks after the event. I will also set up some music as well. As the season progresses, this will be done outside as the school has no air conditioning and can become quite hot. I will also be taking more photos as well. Thanks for racing and see you in May.
April 4th---Few comments regarding the TT. I would like to thank all the racers for coming out. That means a great deal to me. You guys did a good job staying close to the white line and that is needed if we are to stay out here. I will supply some drinks after the event and I will bring my camera to take photos as well on May 20th. I will break out the categories after we get done the next TT. I am trying to drum up some support in having the Midwest riders come out to PA and challenge the east coast riders to a tt challenge. Perhaps scored like a cross country race, we can see what area has the best TT'ers. Also the TTT at Clarks Valley may be a good challenge as well. Hopefully the next TT will be warmer.
New change----The South Mountain Hill Climb will start now at 2:00 p.m. We need to delay the start time as the state TT may be busy. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m.
April 1st---Our first TT in PA was done on a cold and overcast day, but the spirit and times were hot. It was great to see some fast times and people generally liked the TT course and the yellow sub-hour t-shirt. We look forward to warmer weather and thanks for all who came out for this inaugural event.!
The second part of the day was the South Mountain Hill Climb. It started to rain around noon and it somehow stopped as we approached the start time. The weather seemed to turn colder and we did see our breath atop South Mountain. That was neat. The racer's seemed to enjoy the climb and what the mountain threw at them.
A few notes about the races: Thanks to Zipp, the fastest time up the mountain after the 6 events, will walk away with either a Zipp stem or seat post. Zipp is about weight and high performance and every second counts on this climb. Please support Zipp! Also, we will be starting the climb at high noon rather than 1:00 p.m. Registration will start at 11:30 a.m. I am encouraging you to use BikeReg.com to register. It will help move things along as we will be busy with the morning tt so any time we can save would be needed and useful. The change in time will help condense the day for the rider and get them home a bit earlier. We start the Carlisle TT early because of the wind and traffic concerns. All the TT's will now start at 7:45 a.m. sharp. The weather should be warmer and the wind should hopefully come out of the west which will make the 20K'ers happier. Thanks for making our first promoting experience a pleasant one. We look forward to making some minor changes to improve your oveall experience at both events....Best, Dan
March 30th---Please note the directions to the Hill Climb race were incorrectly posted. They are now correct. Go here. Thanks.
March 29th---Quck update regarding the TT....We will be starting the TT at 8:00 a.m. and I will
be mailing out your start time. I like to start a bit earlier , but with the limited dayliight in April and colder temps, the 8:00 start time will be in order. The next TT's will start earlier. To get to the Hill Climb course....you basically go about 1/2 mile past the TT turnaround to the Sunoco Gas Station, and make a left and follow that around to the park.
I like to thank Holmes Bike Shop for supplying $100.00 in gift certifcates for the Hill Climb. I am hoping that other bike shops will help as well. See you soon!
PS I will mark a route for those who want to ride after the hill climb race in the nice county side..
March 28th--Very excited to report that the PA State TT 40 KM Championship will take place at Clarks Valley on July 8th. I can't think of a better course to have this on than at CV. It really is a wonderful place to test your TT ability. We will be awarding sub-hour shirts to people who go under an hour on this day for a small fee. We look forward to hosting this even and stay tune for other announcements related to racing. The Hill climb will be a lot of fun. Looking at the profile on routeslip can be deceiving. As you climb the mountain, the average grade goes a bit higher. Nothing too bad though. I rode it today and loved looking at the mountain stream gushing all around you as you climb it. See you soon and the TT course will be swept this week. Remember to stay to the far right as you do the tt and not in the middle of the road. I will be sweeping that section just for that reason alone so take advantage of it!!
March 16th----The sub hour T-shirt design changed slightly..here is the official shirt.......the first 50 people who break under an hour or guaranteed a free shirt....after that..there will be a small charge...i have no idea as to how many will be in this elite club???? Best, Dan
March 5---Please make sure you have the right directions to North Dickinson Elementary School (Carlisle TT(T) Go here for that....google had some problems with this but is fixed now...
February 6----For directions to the Carlisle Challenge, go to the Carlisle TT Page....
February 2---I know some of these courses don't apply to many of you but it was easier for me to include all of the courses in one location. Read on....One of the coolest features for 2007 is the inclusion of maps for each race course. It will give you the course map, elevation profile, and satellite imagery. Always fun to see what the race will look like before and after you race it. I will include all the maps for each course. To go to this feature, please go HERE. I also like the fact that you can see all the courses at once and see that say Eagle Creek Fast Crit has an elevation gain of 7 feet and the race at Mooresville has a gain of 64 feet or Pikes Peak Road Race has a gain of 590 feet! South Mountain has a nice elevation gain of 1333 feet in 7 miles.
January 31---I am pleased to announce the following:
Champion System partners with the IRS and PA Bike Racing for 2007!
Champion System, fine maker of affordable and quality custom team apparel, will be the official jersey of both the 40 KM Monrovia Time Trial Series located in Indiana and the Carlisle 40 KM Challenge located in Pennsylvania. The winner in each category will receive a specially designed Champion Jersey symbolizing their respective efforts. "We are excited to have Champion System come on board again for both TT Series, noted promoter Dan Daly. Time Trialing is an important discipline of racing and appears to be making a resurgence". The Monrovia 40 KM TT in Indiana is perhaps one of the nicest in the country and experienced some very fast times last year. In addition, a new 40 KM TT in Carlisle, PA will be a welcome addition to the racing calendar in central PA. More info on these and other events can be found at www.indianaraceseries.com and www.pabikeracing.com In addition, for more info about affordable and quality cycling apparel, go to Champion System at www.champ-sys.com
January 25---A few items to note..., I placed a message board on the home page. We are also working on hopefully getting the Elite State TT at Clarks Valley. This is not definitive but in the works. Hopefully it will come to fruition. I am thinking of holding it on July 8th, the day after the Faulkner Crit. In addition, a brand new and different event is coming to PA...a 30 mile TTT event on Monday, September 3rd at Clarks Valley. A an out and back course that is ideally situated for such an event, it promises to be something you and your team won't soon forget. Let me know your thoughts about these events at pabikeracing@aol.com. I think this would be a very cool event and one that is needed for the mid-atlantic region. More info to follow. If your team would like to help with some of these races, please let me know as well. Thanks and have a great rest of the week.
January 18---The South Mountain Hill Climb course can be found here......
January 14---The Carlisle course can be seen here......
January 11---New Price for the races.. more expenses than what i anticipated.....sorry.....$20.00 for the South Mountain Race, $25.00 for the Carlisle Challenge. Do both and cost drops to $40.00....
January 7---Cool...the South Mountain Profile is now posted....a perfect climb...almost looks like a
stairmaster program....
January 3rd---Please note the following changes....there are now 5 Carlisle TT events rather than 9. They will be held during the same time as the South Mountain Hill Climb. Please check flyer as we had to move some dates around.........Here are the following dates for both events:
April 1, May 20, June 17, August 12, September 9
.
